If your neighbour is a child abuser, and constantly hits his kids, would you report him?
Would you confront him first?
If his child says they were 'naughty' and deserved to be punished, would you leave it at that without reporting.... after all it's an internal family problem?
If you neighbour was a wife beater and abused his wife, would you report him?
Would you confront him?
If his wife said she deserved being hit, would you 'butt out'....after all it's an internal family problem?
Are Christians suppose to leave it at that because it's an Islamic issue, are Buddhist and Hindus suppose to remain silent because it doesn't affect them? Would Muslims be the only people who can speak out against Muslim oppressing other Muslims?
Firstly, the caning of Karthika DOES affect me. Do you think the international press sees a difference between Muslims and non-Muslims in Malaysia. Do you think non-Muslims are not ashamed of our country when we go about caning a women and banning people from concerts on the sole criteria of their religion.
Secondly, to say Syariah law doesn't affect me is utter nonsense. Lawyers have been remanded because their clients broke Syariah law, even though the lawyers themselves were not Muslims.
Non-Muslims like Moorthy have been buried under Muslim rights, even though their families knew they were not Muslims and the issue was for the Syariah Courts to decide although they were not Muslims.
It is AGAINST our law to whip a women. Section 289 of the criminal procedure code of MALAYSIA says EXPLICITLY that women can't be whipped. That's it, that's final.
For some dumbwad to now go and whip women in the name of God is not only an insult to the legal process in this country...it is illegal.
Doesn't matter what Kartika wants, doesn't matter what you want...that's the law and you have to abide by it. (unless you're UMNO)
Finally and most importantly, we are all disgusted by the hypocrisy of the entire sham.
I've been to clubs in Heritage row and Jalan P. Ramlee that are Jam Packed with Malays. Not only were they in clubs serving alcohol, they were consuming it themselves. So why haven't these guys been whipped?
We all know why, it's the hypocrisy in the way we treat people who can afford Rm400 dollar bottles of Whisky and people who only drink beer in a hotel.
I'm not asking for enforcement in KL, I'm just saying that we need to cut the crap.
There are more legal problems with this. Under Malaysian law, you cannot whip a person unless they are imprisoned. Kartika was not passed a prison sentence and therefore cannot be whipped.
We have a situation where Kartika has been passed a whipping sentence but cannot be whipped because she cannot be imprisoned.
What kind of Judge would make such a fundamental error? And you want the Christians, Buddhist and Hindus to trust Syariah Judges? The incompetence is disgusting to say the least.
