Catholics and their police reports

I know everyone is talking about Teo Beng Hock, but in typical Malaysian fashion we only have the ability to focus on one issue at a time.

The tragedy of Teo Beng Hock, while a tragedy in it's own right, we must also follow through on the other issues that have been raised. Like PKFZ, Kugan and the Al-Islam publication.

I think a lot of people are confused as to why Catholics are angry with Al-Islam, and I'll like to set the record straight. Journalist from a publication called Al-Islam, waltz into a Catholic Church to attend Mass and then consumed the Holy Communion (holy bread), before spitting it out to be photographed and published in their magazine.

We're not upset about the 'spying'. You can't spy on someone that doesn't have secrets. The Catholic church continues to welcome non-Catholics into our Mass to celebrate it with us. You are welcome to come, both announced and anonymously to observe, partake and celebrate the Mass with us. That we have no problem with.

We are upset about the consummation of Holy Communion (or Holy Eucharist), by non-catholics. Catholics believe that the Holy Communion is the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, and you cannot receive it till you are in full Communion with the church, i.e. you become a Catholic and you're not in a state of Mortal Sin. Every mass is a re-enactment of the Last Supper of Jesus and the Holy Eucharist is the most sacred part of mass.

What Al-Islam did to the Holy Eucharist is unacceptable.

The Analogy of this, is not for a Catholic to go into a Mosque, or a Temple and just attend it's service.

The Analogy is for a Catholic to go into a Mosque, find a copy of the Quran, tear it and spit on it, before taking pictures it's shredded pieces to publish.

The Analogy is to go into a Hindu Temple, find a statue of a deity and spit on it and desecrate it before taking a picture for publication.

That is the Analogy, and that is why there are police reports.

We're not asking everyone to believe that the Holy Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Christ, we're merely asking everyone to respect our beliefs. That isn't too much to ask for.

Finally, the fact that even Mahaguru58 (who once asked all non-muslims to be tattooed Kafir) is against the Al-Islam publication shows that at the very least these 2 journalist do not have the approval of the very demographic they hope to sell their magazines to.

Granted that the Journalist didn't know about the Holy Eucharist, which means they were ignorant in their 'undercover' operation. They should have at least researched a bit before going to the church. However, if they meant no dis-respect to Catholics and Christians their apology has not been forthcoming.

God did not elect me his warrior on Earth, and I have no intention of waging war against Al-Islam. The Catholic response should be one that is rooted in catholic values, which are love and forgiveness.

For fogiveness however, there needs to be repentance. The fact that repentance seems to be lacking, leaves one to wonder on the state of superiority these journalist feel about Islam, that Muslims do not need to apologize to anyone else.

That's my 2 cents. Don't spend it all in one place.
