According to the Home Ministry , Catholics (and every other non-muslim community) are not allowed to use the word Allah. The Catholic Herald , a local newspaper distributed among Catholics was last year banned from using 'Allah' in it's Bahasa Malaysia section.
Why would Malaysians want to use an Arabic word? Doesn't make sense? Malaysians should use Bahasa words. They should use 'Tuhan' instead of 'Allah'.
Tuhan is correct for Catholics. Allah is wrong.
Well by that same logic, Selamat Sejahtera is correct and Assalamualaikum is wrong.
Well Assalamualaikum to you then. (used by Mukriz in his speech to Ansara)
Of course that's an Arabic word used in a Malaysian context, maybe Mukriz managed to 'confuse' the ANSARA folks into believing they were Arabs instead of Malay.
In fact this common Arabic greeting is used in nearly every UMNO gathering. It point that Arabic words are as part and parcel of Bahasa as Sanskrit, Tamil and Hokkien. Bahasa is a mixture of languages, and we shouldn't be preventing people from using certain words just because their Catholic.
